Fitness competitions are an excellent way for athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike to overcome challenges and showcase their talent.

There are many different types of competitions—one new one that's been rising in popularity is HYROX. Here we're going to break down what the HYROX competition is, what the contest entails, and upcoming events.

What is HYROX?

HYROX competition

HYROX is a competitive fitness race that combines running and functional fitness. The competition involves a series of 1km runs interspersed with stations testing strength, endurance, or the two combined.

While launched in Hamburg in 2017, HYROX has now expanded to countries all over the world, including the US.

The events take place in huge indoor spaces where spectators can follow all the action.

Contestants all take on the same alternating format, but compete across various divisions and categories, making it suitable for someone just looking for something fun and challenging as much as a serious fitness pro who wants to win.

You can compete solo in the HYROX Open/Pro division, with a partner in the HYROX Doubles division, or with a group of four in the HYROX Relay division—there's an option for everyone.

If you were wondering where the name "HYROX" came from, it actually doesn’t stand for anything. It’s simply a combination of the words “hybrid” and “rockstar”.

The Competition

HYROX competition

There are two main components to a HYROX competition: Running and skill stations. The event is 50% running— you’ll need to complete eight separate laps of 1km.

When training, it's important to reproduce the experience of running after working your arms and legs, so you’re prepared for the race.

The other 50% is the movement challenges. Each station has its own dedicated functional skill test — including burpees, wall balls, and sled pushes and pulls.

Every HYROX event has eight 1km runs, each followed by a unique workout testing a different kind of fitness. These include:

  • 1km SkiErg
  • 50m sled push (weight varies by category)
  • 50m sled pull (weight varies by category)
  • 80m burpee broad jumps
  • 1km row
  • 200m farmer’s carry (weight varies by category)
  • Sandbag lunges (weight varies by category)
  • 75/100 wall balls (reps vary by category)

So when training for the competition, ensure you practice these skills not just to perform them as best you can but also to help prevent injury.

The New HYROX Line

HYROX is an awesome competition that tests your physical and mental strength and endurance—it's definitely not for the weak. Interested in what supplements you can take to prepare for the competition and enhance your performance?

We've just launched a brand-new product line with HYROX that'll support you at the gym and at the event.

THE Electro

The first Myprotein electrolyte product, our electrolyte mix boosts immunity and energy levels with the use of patented, powerful ingredients.

THE Electro uses a custom metabolite blend along with AstraGin to enhance nutrient absorption.

Our electrolytes are designed to help gym-goers and athletes maintain hydration and perform at their best, especially during high-intensity events like HYROX.

Try THE Electro in Lemon Lime for a refreshing boost to enhance performance and recovery.

THE Creatine

THE Creatine is a nutrient-packed creatine supp that'll support even the most intense training. With 2g of con-cret, 400mg of Peak ATP, and 600 mg of Ashwagandha, this creatine will give you the competitive edge you need to excel at HYROX, or any competition for that matter.

THE Creatine utilizes con-cret, a patented form of creatine hydrochloride (HCl)—a highly concentrated and soluble version of creatine.

Compared to creatine monohydrate, con-cret:

  • Gets absorbed more easily and efficiently
  • Produces the same results with a smaller dose
  • Has been shown to produce less water retention

THE Creatine also comes with essential vitamins like vitamin C and B6, plus HMB powder and betaine anhydrous to support strength and muscle growth and AstriGin to promote nutrient absorption.

Get THE Creatine in Blue Raspberry for a burst of flavor that'll elevate your workouts and your competition.
