Contender for the fakeaway hall of fame? I think so.

Zac Kerr (

), king of the fakeaway, as we like to call him, has made another mouth-watering recipe to rival your local chicken shop. These golden popcorn chicken pieces deliver 49g of protein for just 335 calories in a whole batch. Let’s dig in.

Servings:  Serves 1 (20 pieces)

Ingredients

  • 200g minced chicken breast
  • 20g plain flour
  • 1/2tsp onion powder
  • 1/2tsp garlic powder
  • 1tsp paprika
  • 1tsp oregano
  • 1/4tsp cayenne pepper
  • 10 egg whites
  • 1-2spritzes olive oil

Instructions

  1. Roll your chicken mince into 20 equal balls

  2. Next, take two small mixing bowls. Add flour and the spices into one and mix to combine. Add your egg whites into the other one.

  3. One by one, dip your chicken balls in the egg whites, then roll your flour and spice mixture, and add to your air fryer rack or baking tray.

  4. Spray with olive oil spray and air fry for 11 minutes at 200°C or bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes at 220°C.

  5. Remove the chicken from the oven/air fryer and, in Zac’s words, “smash”.
