Before you drink a pot of coffee first thing in the morning, there’s a few other liquids you should consider and for good reason. Although the caffeine is a great way to get you energized for the day, there are other ways to jump-start your body into growth and make sure it's ready for the tasks ahead of you. These 3 drinks can help not only build muscle, but also burn fat and keep you regular. Sound like a winner? Take a look for yourself!

What To Drink Every Morning

Water

The single best thing you can drink to start every day is a big glass of water. Your body is made up of 60% water. This means it’s essential to consume enough water each day to provide the body with enough hydration to power through the day. The daily intake should be right around half your bodyweight in ounces, i.e. if you’re a 200 lbs male, your daily water intake should be right around 100 oz before you lay your head down at night.

It may be easier to think that you need to drink 1/2 a gallon of water per day. So why not get yourself a Myprotein ½ Gallon Hydrator? Then all you need to do is fill it up with water at the beginning of the day and make sure you drink it all by the end of the day. Easy!

Due to its hydrating properties, water is good to take in first thing in the morning since you’ve gone about 6-8 hours without drinking any fluids. A glass of about 12-14 ounces upon waking is enough to hydrate the body from the previous night’s sleep as well as helping to boost your metabolism for the long day ahead of you. If you’re one that’s taking creatine as part of your daily supplement routine, think about upping your water intake about 20-30 ounces more to ensure the kidneys are working properly and flushing correctly.

Whey Protein

Since your body has been literally starved for the last 6-8 hours, it is in need of some calories first thing when you wake up. A great way to get some clean fuel, without the carbs to weigh you down first thing in the morning, is having a whey protein shake. With about 20-30 grams of protein per serving, taking in this protein shake will not only reefed your muscles that have been screaming for fuel, but also allows the body to get the furnace burning.

If you prefer to work out in the morning, taking in protein is a great pre-workout meal that will provide you with energy, yet is quick and light enough for you to hit the weights quickly. Rather than eating a big meal of chicken and rice, opt for some whey and maybe a piece of fruit to help you power through a morning workout.

Why Not Try: Thewhey, an ultra premium whey protein blend with 25 g of protein per serving.

BCAAs

BCAAs are similar to taking whey protein first thing in the morning in that your body has not had any all night long and is ready for some recovery and rebuilding. Since BCAAs are the building blocks of muscle building, it’s crucial to keep on these as soon as your feet hit the floor when that alarm goes off.

The typical dosage is about 5 grams in 10-14 ounces of water with a 2:1:1 ratio being the best to provide proper muscle building. Like mentioned before, if you’re ready to hit the weights or smash some cardio first thing before work, taking BCAAs are crucial to help prevent muscle breakdown and keeping your focus on crushing your workout.

Apple Cider Vinegar & Lemon Juice

This one is probably the most foreign to most that are reading this, but it’s become a fitness phenomenon. Apple cider vinegar has many health benefits that include metabolism boosting properties, anti-bacterial properties and even helps lower your risk of stroke and heart attack.

Lemon juice also has great fat burning effects and boosts metabolism as well. The two together (about 1 oz of each mixed together) make for a great morning drink that is not just great for your outward appearance, but also for a healthy inside.

Warning: This does not taste good and could potentially damage the enamel on your teeth if sipped and allow the liquid to hit the teeth. If it helps, try plugging your nose and just chugging the 2 ounces by throwing it in the back of your throat - you’ll eventually get used to it.
