Keeping the sweet treats coming this festive season without the added fat, refined sugar and rubbish this protein tootsie roll is a great pre or post workout snack and ideal simple little gift for your gym buddy!

Soak the sultanas in hot water until they swell (around 15 minutes)

Add the oats and whey into a food processor then pulse until evenly mixed

Drain the sultanas, saving the left over water, then pour the sultanas into the food process and pulse

Add the leftover water to the food processor a drop at a time

Continue pulsing the blender until a dough ball starts to form – all water may not be needed

Remove the dough from the food processor and roll into a sausage shape

Slightly press each side onto a flat surface to allow a rectangle shape to form

Cut into 2 and wrap in cellophane place in the fridge (this will need an hour or two to firm up)

Once firm the bars can be cut into 8 cubes and they will last in the fridge for 3-4 days
