Chocolate Protein Cake Recipe

This malty chocolate protein cake is an impressive cake! Not to mention it has only 4g of sugar, 13g protein and under 200 calories per serving!

This is a great recipe to use as an afternoon snack, cut it up into your individual servings, wrap in cling film and put in the freezer then you can take one out each night put it in the fridge and it will be defrosted and ready to eat the next day.

Chocolate Protein Cake Recipe

  • 250g Strong Wholemeal Flour
  • 70g Cacao Powder
  • 3 Medium Eggs
  • 5 tbsp Apple Sauce (baby food or no added sugar)
  • 25g Soft Pitted Dates or (Dried Sultanas Soaked in hot water)
  • 10g Baking Powder
  •  1tsp Cinnamon
  •  ½ tsp Salt
  • 15g Sweetener or 2 tbs Honey
  • 25ml Melted Coconut Oil
  • 200ml Almond Milk
  • 150g Milk Protein Smooth

Chocolate Protein Cake Recipe

  1. Preheat the oven on to 180°C.
  2. To a large bowl add flour, coco powder, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, granulated sweetener and milk protein smooth, give them a stir
  3. In a separate bowl melt the coconut oil and add the dates mix together and blend with a hand blender into a paste (or mash with a fork)
  4. add the apple sauce, eggs, Flavdrops, 100ml of the milk and pour over the dry ingredients

Note: If it still feels thick add a little water. You are aiming for the mix to drop off the spoon in a lump not dribble – that is too wet, so if that happens just put in a little more flour.

  1. Add the coconut and date mixture and beat everything together
  2. Once everything is mixed together, pour the mixture into the tin and place in the oven for 20-35 minutes until it has risen and you can stick a stew in the middle without it being covered in mixture.
  3. This cake will only last 3 days unless refrigerated or 3 months frozen
