Popular Fitness Trends During Fall

Fall has come to an end. In this article we’ll be having a look at what new trends or fads became popular in the health and fitness industry during this time. So, what fitness trends became popular during this time? Let’s find out.

? Cooking Oils

The first trend is regarding the use of cooking oils. Although most people tend to cook foods using Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Canola Oil, I noticed many people make the switch to other sources such as Avocado Oil and Coconut Oil. However, most people don’t know what advantages this offer over the well-known oils.

Avocado Oil comes from avocados, which are rich in monounsaturated fats or healthy fats. These are the fats that help lower cholesterol, which results in a much lower risk of heart disease. Other people also switched over to coconut oil. The reason why coconut oil, which is what I personally use and have been using for years, is so great as a cooking oil product, is that it is made up of Medium Chain Triglycerides, a form of fatty acids that are easily digested and metabolized within the body which results an increase in thermic activity (calories burned through digestion).

The next trend I also noticed when I would go grocery shopping or listen to people discuss diet alternatives is simply regarding flour. Most of us are familiar with flour and there’s a high possibility you have white flour in your pantry right now at home. However, white flour isn’t the only option available. If you have an allergen to white flour, you can switch to rice flour, coconut flour, almond flour, and even buckwheat flour. The options are endless and many of the other types will provide you with more vitamins and essential nutrients when compared to the traditional white flour most of us use already.

? Pumpkin

This is without a doubt one of falls greatest health trends. The use of pumpkin with dieting and making meals is one part of fall many people in the fitness industry and outside of it take part in. Pumpkin, however, is a great food for weight loss simply because it is extremely calorie dense and only around 50 calories per cup.

Pumpkin is also rich in fiber, which is important because fiber consumption has a direct correlation regarding appetite suppression and fullness after a meal. Although this is one I admittedly know little about, essentially it’s a practice of body therapy in which suction cups are applied to the skin in various areas. Where the cupping is applied, the suctioning of the cups helps increase circulation of oxygen within that region to possibly relieve soreness and muscle tension. This has been seen with many athletes, even in the past Olympics, but the science behind it isn’t fully there for now.

? Health Drinks

The last trend I wish to discuss is the one in which I neither practice nor preach for or against. The trend of Health Drinks has been one that has increased greatly lately. A health drink essentially is a drink in which it provides the consumer with an adequate amount of nutrients when compared to another drink of similar quantity. Instead of drinking water, many people switched to Green Tea.

Although both contain no calories essentially, green tea does provide the body with antioxidants to fight against sickness, EGCG which helps aid a bit in fat reduction and increase in thermogenesis or metabolism, as well as even providing the body with a similar burst in energy like caffeine will without actually having to consume caffeine. Should you start drinking green tea? If you like the taste of it, go for it.

Although many of these trends do provide you with a benefit, they aren’t trends that will have a significant impact on your training and dieting results to help you achieve the body and goals you are seeking.
